Apple on Tuesday unveiled the iPhone Air, the thinnest smartphone the company has ever produced, featuring a redesigned titanium body, advanced custom silicon, and a 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR display. The device, revealed during Apple’s annual product launch event in Cupertino, measures just 5.6 millimeters in thickness and weighs approximately 165 grams, making it the lightest iPhone with a large display to date. The iPhone Air introduces a new structural design centered on a precision-milled titanium frame and an internal architecture that allows for enhanced battery capacity despite its slim profile.

The device is reinforced with Ceramic Shield 2 on the front and Ceramic Shield on the back, improving scratch resistance by a factor of three and enhancing drop protection compared to previous models. The phone’s display includes ProMotion technology, allowing an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz, and reaches peak outdoor brightness levels of up to 3,000 nits. Powered by Apple’s new A19 Pro processor, along with the N1 networking chip and C1X modem, the iPhone Air delivers what the company states is the highest power efficiency in any iPhone to date.

The A19 Pro includes a six-core CPU and upgraded five-core GPU, supporting advanced mobile gaming and on-device artificial intelligence operations. The N1 chip supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, while the C1X modem delivers twice the data performance of its predecessor with 30 percent lower energy consumption. The iPhone Air’s camera system includes a 48-megapixel main rear lens capable of capturing at multiple focal lengths, including 28mm and 35mm, and offering 2x optical-quality telephoto zoom. The sensor uses Apple’s Photonic Engine to enhance low-light performance and dynamic range.

The front-facing 18-megapixel Center Stage camera features a square sensor design that supports both portrait and landscape selfies without rotating the device, and automatically expands its field of view to include additional subjects. Video recording capabilities include Dolby Vision at 4K60, dual-camera capture, spatial audio, and real-time audio balancing features such as wind noise reduction and voice enhancement. The device supports Action mode for stabilized video and allows depth information to be recorded automatically, enabling portrait-style edits post-capture.

The iPhone Air runs iOS 26, which introduces new system-level enhancements, including the Liquid Glass interface, improved multitasking, and native support for Apple Intelligence features such as on-device visual analysis and live translation. Apple Intelligence operates on-device and integrates with core applications including Messages, FaceTime, and Phone, with language support available in English, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, and Simplified Chinese. The device is available in four finishes space black, cloud white, light gold, and sky blue and comes in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage configurations.

Pricing starts at $999 in the United States. Pre-orders will open on September 12, with general availability beginning September 19 across more than 60 countries, including the United States, UK, China, Japan, and the UAE. Apple has also launched a series of accessories designed for the iPhone Air, including a MagSafe battery pack offering up to 40 hours of video playback, a translucent protective case, a reinforced bumper frame, and a recycled-fiber crossbody strap available in ten colors. All accessories are optimized to fit the device’s ultra-slim profile and support MagSafe connectivity.

The iPhone Air is part of Apple’s broader sustainability initiative. The device contains 35 percent recycled materials, including 80 percent recycled titanium and 100 percent recycled cobalt in the battery. It is assembled using 45 percent renewable energy across Apple’s supply chain and ships in 100 percent fiber-based recyclable packaging. The titanium USB-C port is 3D-printed, reducing material usage by 33 percent compared to traditional methods. – By Content Syndication Services.
